Not charging properly (only charged 15% after weeks of charging)

I bought this the first week of April. I have plugged it in to charge on multiple occasions and it is only charged 15% since early April. I will leave it plugged in for hours at a time and it will only increase by one percent. I’m afraid to leave it plugged in overnight because the charger block gets really hot. When I purchased it, it was at 72% and after Weeks of charging, at different times of the day, it is up to 87%. I should have returned this but my time has expired. I looked at the reviews and they seemed good so maybe I have a defective unit. It’s not cheap. I am disappointed!
